Sunday, NASCAR rolled into Charlotte after two races at Darlington for the Coca-Cola 600 … only for a little inclement weather to force a red flag and a 68-minute stoppage in the race.
But there was good news! First, the break gave us a chance to catch up with Matt Kenseth, who talked about his awesome Metallica mask and named his favorite song by the metal band (well, sort of; he cheated, but his answer is correct, so we’ll forgive him):

And after the skies cleared, we were back to racing at lap 51.
The Coca-Cola 600, which is the third race back since NASCAR’s two-month hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, was the first race to feature qualifying since the Cup Series’ return; 2017 Daytona 500 winner Kurt Busch took the pole:
“By .009 second, Kurt Busch steals the pole from Jimmie Johnson.”

Once the order was set, it was time to start those engines. And on this Memorial Day weekend, as NASCAR honored those who serve, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff gave the command:

And before the race, we remembered those who have made the ultimate sacrifice:
