Joe Burrow hit the headlines last month as he became the top draft pick in the NFL’s first-ever virtual draft. However right now, like most of his peers Burrow is not focused solely on football. Instead, he is using his social media reach to speak out on atrocities against minorities in the present day.
Joe Burrow speaks out on George Floyd’s death
The Bengals quarterback joins a host of American as well as international sports personalities like The Rock, Evander Kane, Derrick Carr, Alex Morgan, Lewis Hamilton, and LeBron James in speaking against the brutal murder.
Burrow wrote, “The black community needs our help. They have been unheard for far too long. Open your ears, listen, and speak. This isn’t politics. This is human rights.”

The shocking incident took place a few days ago at Minneapolis. Here police arrived on the scene concerning a forgery case. On the scene, officer Chauvin pinned Floyd to the ground and rested his knee atop the side of his neck.
The police ignored Floyd’s desperate pleas indicating that he was unable to breathe. He even said he was gonna die. Videos showed passer-byes too urging the inconsiderate officers to let Floyd go. However, it was to no avail as Floyd eventually became unresponsive and died.
Initially, the Minneapolis PD attributed his death to existing health issues. However, public outrage led to the four officers on the scene being handed their pink slips.
A few days back, Burrow also retweeted a video showing how the police dealt with a white man wielding a knife and attempting to use it in a threatening manner. Furthermore, he plugged in the Dylan Roof incident too. At this time police purchased a Burger King package for a man who murdered 9 black people.
It is a clear sign of discrimination that the NFL quarterback ensures is the core message of his tweet.
As of now, the officers are dismissed with one being arrested on third-degree murder and manslaughter charges. However, the other 3 involved still roam freely.
