Following his transfer from UK, Johnny Juzang has been granted immediate eligibility by the NCAA, per Jon Rothstein. This means he’ll be eligible to play as a true sophomore for the UCLA Bruins next season.
Sources: UCLA's Johnny Juzang has received a waiver from the NCAA and is eligible for the 20-21 college basketball season.
Transfer from Kentucky.

This is one of, if not the fastest transfer waiver the NCAA has ever given, as the waiver process typically takes months to complete. Juzang committed to UCLA on April 8th, and the NCAA made a rule less than two months later.
A former five-star recruit, Juzang committed to UK in the summer of 2019 over the likes of Kansas and Villanova. After a rough start to his freshman season, Juzang really picked it up down the stretch and looked to be prepared for a bigger role next season.
However, the Los Angeles native still opted to transfer and is now going back home to finish out his college career.
“First, I really like coach [Mick] Cronin and the direction the program is going in,” Juzang told 247 Sports when he committed to the Bruins in April. “I think it’s a good fit for me. On top of that, I’m 10-15 minutes from Westwood. Playing for UCLA is something that has always excited me and now more than ever I really want to compete for a championship for UCLA, that’s something that fires me up.”
Now, UK will face Juzang next season, as the Wildcats and Bruins are set to face off in the CBS Sports Classic.
While it’s unfortunate Juzang didn’t get to finish his career in Lexington, it’s great to see he gets to go back home and play in front of friends and family at a program that will still keep him in the national spotlight. He’s gonna be a good one for the Bruins.
Oh, and hopefully this is a good sign for UK’s case to get immediate eligibility for Wake Forest transfer Olivier Sarr.
