NFL Power Rankings Week 13: Steelers lose style points but keep winning - Behind the Steel Curtain

The Pittsburgh Steelers, along with the rest of the NFL, are coming off the twelfth week of a journey which has never been done in the history of the game. Playing games amidst a global pandemic.

The league has done tremendous work with protocols and adjustments to make sure this season goes off without a hitch, but even the best laid plans can have their bumps in the road. The Steelers experienced that first hand with an unexpected bye week after the Titans’ outbreak forced their Week 4 game to be moved.

Who do the experts think will be the team to beat this season? Power Rankings are one way to decipher who they like, or don’t like, at any particular juncture of the season. Heading into Week 13, there is a lot which can be expected. The Chiefs find themselves near the top of most rankings, while the Green Bay Packers or the New Orleans Saints are everyone’s favorite now in the NFC.

Where do the Steelers fall? Well that depends. After a perfect 11-0 start, almost everyone sees the black-and-gold as a Top 3 team. Take a look at some of the Power Rankings below, and be sure to let us know what you think of the rankings in the comment section below!

1. Pittsburgh Steelers

Most important game remaining: Week 14 at Buffalo

An undefeated season would be cool, but for the Steelers, the biggest goal is reaching the Super Bowl, and the best way to do that is to clinch the top seed in the AFC. To do that, the Steelers have to stay ahead of a one-loss Chiefs team — which might mean going undefeated. The two biggest games left that could cause them to trip up are at Buffalo — a team that beat the Steelers on “Sunday Night Football” a year ago and really started the slide that prevented them from making the playoffs — and against Indianapolis in Week 16.”

2. Kansas City Chiefs
3. New Orleans Saints
4. Green Bay Packers
5. Buffalo Bills
6. Seattle Seahawks
7. Tennessee Titans
8. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
9. Indianapolis Colts
10. Los Angeles Rams

1. Kansas City Chiefs
2. Pittsburgh Steelers

“A Wednesday afternoon win over the Ravens wasn’t pretty, but nothing was for this matchup, postponed three times in a chaotic Week 12 for both teams. Still, they got the game in, and the Steelers are 11-0 with a short week to prepare for Washington on Monday. The defense did what it was supposed to do against a deeply compromised Ravens offense, but the offense deserves nil in the way of plaudits. Pittsburgh failed to establish the run, while Ben Roethlisberger was let down numerous times by receivers who struggled with drops. If the Steelers are going to deliver a performance like that against a contender at full strength, you can pencil in that first loss right now.”

3. New Orleans Saints
4. Green Bay Packers
5. Seattle Seahawks
6. Tennessee Titans
7. Buffalo Bills
8. Los Angeles Rams
9. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
10. Indianapolis Colts

1. Pittsburgh Steelers

“They didn’t look great in beating a depleted Ravens team, but they keep on winning. At some point, they have to run the ball better.”

2. Kansas City Chiefs
3. New Orleans Saints
4. Green Bay Packers
5. Seattle Seahawks
6. Buffalo Bills
7. Tennessee Titans
8. Cleveland Browns
9. Indianapolis Colts
10. Los Angeles Rams

1. Kansas City Chiefs
2. Pittsburgh Steelers

“I’m putting Pittsburgh No. 2 and I assume Steelers fans are, if not over it, at least understanding at this point. This routine has gone on for a while now, with Mike Tomlin’s team the NFL’s last unbeaten and power rankers routinely putting the Chiefs above them. The Steelers are having a great season but the Chiefs are truly, potentially all-time great. Second place is nothing to sneeze at and I would love to see this defense get its chance to face Kansas City on conference championship weekend.”

3. Green Bay Packers
4. New Orleans Saints
5. Seattle Seahawks
6. Tennessee Titans
7. Buffalo Bills
8. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
9. Indianapolis Colts
10. Cleveland Browns

1. Kansas City Chiefs
2. Pittsburgh Steelers

“The Steelers refuse to lose and keep making the Chiefs sweat with the potential to take their home-field advantage and bye away. The Steelers now get a shell of a Ravens team looking for a sweep, with only a tough matchup at the Bills ahead.”

3. New Orleans Saints
4. Green Bay Packers
5. Buffalo Bills
6. Seattle Seahawks
7. Tennessee Titans
8. Cleveland Browns
9. Los Angeles Rams
10. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
